Published books

Writing under the name of Mel Alanson, I’ve self-published two novels. Each is available in either paperback or Kindle format:

The Ravine Blurb:

In the aftermath of an unpleasant divorce, Jason, a self-employed contract writer, enjoys a brief romance with marketing executive, Samantha. Sadly, however, Samantha turns out to be materialistic and self-centred – much like his ex-wife. They split amicably, and Jason retreats to a small but comfortable shepherd’s hut in Wales, where he hopes to make a fresh start. The hut is on Tan Y Bryn Farm owned by the amiable and hard-working Glyn and Carys Edwards.

As far as Jason is aware, Glyn and Carys are happily married, although he does find himself very much attracted to Carys. To help keep Carys from his thoughts, Jason focuses on his work, and he’s further distracted by the affections of local hairdresser, Elin.

This is a tale of romance in the hills of Southern Snowdonia. It features characters from radically different backgrounds and it tells of the hazards arising when we make casual assumptions about those around us.

Sometimes, things – and people – are not at all what they seem, and misunderstandings can be costly!

The Ravine is available via Amazon.

Angharad Blurb:

The second tale from Tan Y Bryn documents the ups and downs (literally, in some respects – given the nature of the terrain), the evolving fortunes – nightmares from the past, and dreams for the future – along with the developing relationships of those working on the mid-Wales farm.

Angharad is a bright and attractive 36-year-old. Her husband has deserted her, which – given that he’s a violent, drunken bully – is no great loss at all. Meanwhile, Angharad draws considerable satisfaction from the achievements of her teenage son, Denny, who has taken a job on a local sheep farm and is impressing his employers, Carys and her brother, Glyn, big time. When Carys becomes pregnant, there is a vacancy on the farm for another employee – a shepherd. Or perhaps even a shepherdess!

Glyn Edwards is a hard-working farmer, with a zest for life. He copes well in most social situations, but he’d be the first to admit that his love life has been something of a rollercoaster ride. When he first encounters the new female farmhand, he’s less than impressed with her attitude. Nevertheless, there is definitely something about her …

Angharad is available via Amazon.
