Dr Peter J. Hill is an author, geologist and international energy executive with more than fifty years of experience in the global oil and gas industry.
Throughout his career, he has held senior technical, managerial and executive leadership positions across Europe, the Middle East, South America, Australia and North America.
Beginning his career with BP in 1972 as a sedimentologist, Peter went on to become Chief Geologist of the BP Group and later President of BP Venezuela, helping shape exploration and energy development across several continents.
His career spans periods of major geopolitical and industrial change, experiences that now inform his writing and historical fiction.
Led exploration programmes and reservoir modelling projects.
Established BP’s technical presence in Cairo and led exploration and development programmes. Oversaw politically sensitive projects involving Egypt and Israel and contributed to discoveries that generated significant new production.
Responsible for worldwide geological assessment and leadership of more than 300 geologists.
Led major exploration and development initiatives, including the North West Shelf Gas Project and the acquisition of Britoil.
Member of the executive leadership team responsible for organisational transformation and strategic restructuring.
Led BP’s expansion across Venezuela and South America. Helped shape the Venezuelan Field Reactivation Programme and supported development of the Cusiana discovery in Colombia.
